Motivation: the most important part of making a big change. Motivation to change can be difficult, it can keep us stuck. It it a main factor that has kept me doing the daily grind without much enjoyment for many years now. I’ve just convinced myself over and over that I should just be grateful for what I have and it would be too hard to make a change.
Change is hard. It’s scary. Whenever I am entertaining the thought of making a big change, the questions that start racing through my head sound something like this:
“What if I end up broke and homeless?”
“What if everyone thinks I’m ungrateful for my life and what I have?”
“What if I fail?”
“What if I make the change and realize how good I had it, and now it’s too late?”
These thoughts and fears can be paralyzing and keep us stuck in the “same old, same old”.
But without change we can never move forward, and without motivation we cannot change. So find what motivates you, start small and make it happen! What’s the worst that can happen? You will fail? But what if you don’t? What if you end up deliriously happy and really living your life for the first time?
Think about what that would be like.
